Most phones do not allow reading the date of outgoing messages, so sent messages are saved to your computer by default so that the date is not lost. You can change this setting from the Message Center Preferences.
The Message Center also includes features for editing messages dates and automatically inserting the current date when moving messages to a local folder.
While most phones store the date of sent messages, this date is not available over Bluetooth due to limitations in the GSM standards that the phones implement. Technically speaking, the GSM 03.40 and GSM 07.05 standards do not require a date to be included with outgoing SMS, so phone manufacturers do not include one.
The BPEnabler (available for most Symbian and Windows Mobile phones) can access outgoing message dates because it creates its own Bluetooth channel with a custom protocol.
BluePhoneElite uses your computer's date format as set in the OS X System Preferences. This is a different setting from the one used to set the clock in the menu bar.
To change the date format, open the OS X System Preferences, select the International tab, then Formats, and then set the appropriate region.
To change your region's clock format, click Customize in the Times section. For each time format ("Short", "Medium", etc.), click on the drop-down menu triangle in the blue hour token and select 00-23. Then delete the PM token in the same line.
While Motorola phones support the sending long messages, they do not implement access to this feature over Bluetooth. Specifically, they do not support the Concatenated SMS section of the GSM 03.40 specification. (In addition, many Motorola phones have problems reading long messages.)
BluePhoneElite will prompt you to split long messages into separate smaller parts when sending.
Instructions for removing folders are in Message Center: Manage Folders.
