CHANGE SUMMARY IN 2.0.9 This release contains critical fixes for the Message Center, Talk-Thru, and triggers/reactors. Version 2.0.9 also includes several cosmetic fixes and improves general stability. A detailed list of changes is available in the version history. KNOWN ISSUES IN 2.0.9 Talk-Thru and OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Changes in OS X 10.5 have made Talk-Thru somewhat unreliable. I have fixed several issues with BPE2 that could have been making things worse, but there may be some issues with OS X that I can not solve. If you are experiencing problems after following the setup instructions in the BPE2 help, please send us an email so that I can collect bug report information for Apple. Windows Mobile Phones My WinMo programmer has disappeared unexpectedly. There are many bugs in the WinMo BPEnabler that need to be fixed, but it may be a while longer before I can get someone to work on them. If they are not fixed by the time version 2.1 is ready, I may have to remove WinMo support temporarily. COMING SOON IN 2.1 - Message chat interface - Numeric keypad for call window - Improved phonebook auto-complete - Option for editing message date BluePhoneElite 2.0.718 Feb 2008 19:10:56 YDT
I usually try to wait 3-4 weeks between updates, however I am releasing BPE 2.0.7 early... 1) to fix a bug that was introduced in 2.0.6 that prevented communication with Apple's applications (iCal, iChat, iTunes, DVD Player) 2) to distribute a new version of the BPEnabler for Nokia Symbian Series 60 3.0 that works around the phone's issue with call notification There are a few other improvements as well. I'll start working on the chat interface next. BluePhoneElite 2.0.611 Feb 2008 15:47:57 YDT
BluePhoneElite 2.0.6 is now available. Changes in this version include: - Fix for Talk-Thru on OS X 10.5 - New BT Phones preferences allows setting SMSC address - New font options in Advanced preferences - Improvements to AppleScript execution and added new Sample Scripts - Dozens of stability, cosmetic and localization fixes KNOWN ISSUES Symbian Series 60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 Phones There is a serious issue with S60v3 FP1 phones that can cause an "Out of memory" error to appear on incoming calls or the phone may simply reject incoming calls. Nokia has a fixed the issue in a firmware update, but the update is limited to certain "product codes" and does not appear to be available for all phones. We have implemented a work-around in the BPEnabler, but due to Symbian Signing requirements we have to wait for Symbian to finish testing and signing it before we can release it. Windows Mobile Phones with 1,000+ Messages Message reading may be slow or time-out. We are working on a fix. Nokia 6600 Many issues with calls. We are working on a fix. There are also some outstanding bugs with the Windows Mobile BPEnabler I hope to have fixed by the next release. BluePhoneElite 2.0.3: Stability fixes galore27 Nov 2007 14:51:40 YDT
A new version a BPE2 is now available. The major changes in this release include: - an internal overhaul of the Message Center that improves sorting and searching large numbers of message - an update to MTCoreAudio (the audio framework that BPE2 uses for Talk-Thru) that fixes issues with noise and system stability - changes to the AppleScript dictionary and the addition of an Apple Address Book dialer script - many many more bug fixes There are still many new features planned that I'm itching to implement, but they will have to wait. The next month or so will be focused on bug fixing and improving the AppleScript dictionary. I am also working on a new compatibility page and a database driven support system to improve communication with users. Hope y'all are enjoying BPE2. Keep the feedback comin'. BluePhoneElite 2.0.2: More fixes for Leopard05 Nov 2007 13:50:51 YDT
A new version a BPE2 is now available with a lot of fixes for Leopard as well as some cosmetic and error-handling improvements. A new beta release of BluePhoneElite 2 is now available with a signed BPEnabler for Symbian UIQv3 phones as well as support for Ring Profiles on most Sony Ericsson phones. There are also numerous bug fixes and a few UI improvements. BPE2 beta 9 (build 1572)24 Sep 2007 12:22:44 PDT
A new beta release of BluePhoneElite 2 is now available. This version adds BPE1 call and message data importing, an Apple Address Book exporter, new service and trigger icons, new versions of the BPEnabler, new localizations and a bunch of UI and bug fixes. We are very close to bringing BPE2 out of beta. The UIQv3 enabler is being Symbian signed, the localizers are working on translations, and I am writing the documentation (finally). There are a few more bug fixes, but as soon as everything is wrapped up we will finally be beta-free. Mira Software News RSS now available03 Sep 2007 13:29:53 PDT
An RSS feed is now available at http://mirasoftware.com/rss This feed will contain the same postings that the mailing list and front page of the web site receive, just in RSS form. BPE2 beta 8 (build 1527)03 Sep 2007 12:32:43 PDT
This version fixes many issue related to Bluetooth connections and interference. Helpful instructions have also been added to connection error messages. There are also improvements to WinMo device setup, and a few service plugin fixes. A new BPEnabler has been added for pre-Symbian 9 phones that fixes issues with saving SMS and marking SMS as read. (NOTE: You will need to refresh your phone's services in the BPE2 preferences to install the new version.) These changes will be applied to the Symbian 9 BPEnabler once this enabler is Symbian Signed. The signing process is slow and expensive, but it will allow features like auto-start, network name and clock-sync to work on Symbian 9 phones. Planned for the next version... importing BPE1 messages, localizations, and a Symbian Signed BPEnabler for Symbian 9 phones. BPE2 beta 7 (build 1491)21 Aug 2007 00:00:00 PDT
I'm pleased to announce the addition of the Windows Mobile phones to the BPE2 compatible-phones lineup. The latest version of BluePhoneElite 2 BETA includes a BPEnabler for installation on Windows Mobile 2003 (SmartPhone and PocketPC) and Windows Mobile 5 (SmartPhone and PocketPC) phones. Windows Mobile 6 phones should be able to run the Windows Mobile 5 enabler. This new version of BPE2 also adds a "mark as read" option to the Message Center and a new Messages preference pane. See below for more changes. BPE2 beta 6 (build 1459)07 Aug 2007 00:00:00 PDT
A new version of BluePhoneElite 2 is available with support for global HotKeys (keyboard shortcuts that can be executed from within any application). There are some minor bug and UI fixes, too. I was hoping to get Windows Mobile support (2003 and 5.0) included in this release but there have been some delays. Very soon, though. Web site and email issues resolved04 Aug 2007 00:00:00 PDT
It all began 48 hours ago, when the mirasoftware.com server went offline. As it turns out, someone at my web host had decided to pull out the server's network plug. Easy fix, but the server wouldn't reboot. After some troubleshooting, I was able to begin updating the server's software. Various parts of the web site have been down including email, but everything should be back to normal now. My apologies for any annoyance / confusion this caused anyone. BPE2 and rebooting Nokia phones24 Jul 2007 12:52:14 PDT
There appears to be a bug with new Nokia Symbian Series 60 phones that causes them to reboot when an audio connection to BPE2 is opened. The bug appears to limited to Series 60 3rd Ed. Feature Pack 1 phones (S60v3 FP1), particularly the N95. This issue may only appear under certain conditions, but I do not have an N95 (yet) to test on. If you have a N95 or a different phone running S60v3 FP1, please email us and let us know: To see if your phone is running S60v3 FP1, go to http://forum.nokia.com/devices and select your phone from the "Select Device" popup. Under the Technical Specs, it should read: Developer Platform: S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1. The "Feature Pack 1" is required. Almost there...17 Jul 2007 00:00:00 PDT
Beta 5 of BPE2 is now available. AppleScript support is back and sample scripts have been added to the installer disk image. The Message Center can now show device folders as sub-folders of Inbox, Sent, Drafts instead of showing them as a separate folder with merged content. There are also a lot of stability and reliability fixes, as usual. While there are dozens of features I would still like to implement, I really want to get BPE2 out of beta. I believe that the current feature-set is almost ready and it will soon be 'locked' so that I can focus on documentation, localization, the public framework and polishing the UI. Thanks to everyone who's provided bug reports; keep it up! Your help makes BPE2 possible! iPhone users...03 Jul 2007 00:00:00 PDT
Here's the bottom line... Talk-Thru (using your Mac as a handsfree device) will work eventually, but needs more testing. All other features (calls without handsfree, text messaging, Increased support will NOT be possible unless Apple improves the iPhone Bluetooth implementation or opens up the iPhone to developers. BPE2 BETA build 126718 May 2007 00:00:00 PDT
I'm pleased to announce the latest beta release of BluePhoneElite 2. The most noticeable improvement since build 1130 is to the preferences, which has been simplified (audio and SMS settings are now under the Advanced button) and provide better feedback when adding a phone. The Bluetooth Phones tab now has a nice assistant to walk you through phone setup and installation of the enabler (if required). The phone's features are now represented by Services which are verified when the phone is added. There are also new versions of enablers for all Symbian devices, (now including UIQv3). Other areas of improvement: bezel notifier, iCal exporter, message folders, data files, and tons of stability improvements. +1 to the team14 Apr 2007 00:00:00 PDT
The growing amount of feedback on the (buggy) BPE2 BETA has been wonderful, but it has greatly reduced the amount of time I can spend coding. Mark from Midnight Beep will be helping out with email support for BPE1 and the BPE2 BETA, which should give me more time to debug the BETA. |
